We have quite the collection of Be Sweet yarns in the shop. If you came to see the Be Sweet Trunk Show and Knit Notes book signing this past Sunday, you’re probably inspired to start a new project with these wonderful yarns.  If you haven’t stopped by yet, let us introduce you to fall, Be Sweet-style.

Be Sweet is a yarn manufacturer and distributor of knitting patterns whose core  mission it is to ‘offer socially and environmentally friendly products that help support community development and job creation programs around the world.’ Be Sweet also donates a portion of its profits to educational development programs in South Africa. Being that South Africa is one of the largest producers of mohair, which comes from the Angora goat, many of Be Sweet’s fine yarns are made with this fiber that is known for its sheen and luster. Having many different weights of mohair to choose from, ranging from a slubby hand-spun thick and thin, to an extra fine boucle mohair with various options in between, the possibilities are endless! Try the Mohair Swing Wrap, knitted from their Brushed Mohair; a versatile cardigan made to be worn several different ways. If you want a smaller project, check out the Sonoma Ruffle Scarf, which allows you to play with color options and Be Sweet’s Extra Fine Mohair.

If you are looking for quick and simple gifts during the holidays, you can’t go wrong with Be Sweet’s Magic Ball! In a range of over 50 colors each ball is composed of  lengths of hand dyed boucle and brushed mohair yarns tied in with textural knobby, ribbon, and metallic yarns. Knit on a size 35 needle, one ball is all you need for a simple, elegant scarf.

Be Sweet is more than just mohair, however.  They have a gorgeous line of 100% Bamboo, another that mixes bamboo and organic cotton called Bambino, and a classic DK weight cotton that’s as soft as its name: Cotton Candy. Be Sweet Bamboo has a drape much like silk but with a sheen all its own. Held double with Extra Fine Mohair, you can create the lovely Snowmass Snood and it couldn’t feel better wrapped around one’s neck.

Come down to Knitterly to see what Be Sweet yarns and patterns we have store for your Fall knitting. We were so inspired by Nadine Curtis’ visit this past weekend, let us share Be Sweet’s passion with you!
